Department : Quality Management
The Data Analytics Manager reports to the Vice President of Quality and Risk Management. The role is responsible for the advancement and implementation of analytic tools and solutions to measure and benchmark performance in data-driven safety and quality strategic priorities, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement. Collaborates across executive, clinical, operational, and informatics teams to transform data into actionable insights that enhance care delivery, patient outcomes, and safety performance. Mentor and actively support professional development of team members with emphasis on health data analytics and performance improvement science.
Primary Duties
- Serve as a strategic partner in integrating analytics with the hospital's quality and patient safety programs.
- Support hospital-wide initiatives aligned with the organization's mission and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of high reliability and evidence-based decision-making through data transparency and collaboration.
- Lead the development and management of quality and safety dashboards using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or EHR-integrated reporting systems (e.g., Epic Clarity / Caboodle).
- Analyze clinical and operational data to evaluate performance on key quality metrics, including Core Measures, PSIs, and HACs in comparison to appropriate benchmarks or comparison groups.
- Develop predictive analytics and risk stratification models to identify safety concerns and high-risk patient populations.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, or PDSA methodologies to support and measure quality improvement projects.
- Provide data-driven insights and monitoring tools for interdisciplinary teams to evaluate interventions and sustain improvements.
- Collaborate with Disease Specific Care Coordinators to define and monitor performance on key process and patient outcome metrics relevant to the evidence-based care promoted by the respective programs.
- Partner with clinical leadership to support peer review, mortality reviews, or other quality assessment processes with rigorous analytics.
- Facilitate identification and follow-up of performance outliers and variation in care practices.
- Oversight ensuring accurate and timely submission of quality data to external agencies, including CMS, CDPH, and The Joint Commission.

- Maintain data readiness and provide analytics support during accreditation, licensing, and certification survey activities.
- Monitor compliance with California-specific patient safety and quality data reporting regulations.
- Collaborate with the Patient Safety Officer and Patient Safety Program Manager to develop and maintain effective visualizations to surface actionable insights from incident reports, adverse events, and patient safety from the organization's event reporting system.
- Support Comprehensive Systematic Analyses (e.g. RCA, CCA or FMEA) with relevant data and visualizations.
- Evaluate quality indicators related to transitions of care, preventable readmissions, social determinants of health, and community health outcomes.
- Partner with clinical leadership, community health teams and other relevant stakeholders to support improved care coordination and health equity metrics with rigorous analytics.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship on measurement, data interpretation, quality reporting, and improvement methodologies to members of the team.
- Identify professional development and engagement opportunities to stay abreast of current best practices related to patient safety and quality data and analytics.
- Represent the quality analytics function on relevant hospital and medical staff committees and performance improvement teams.
- Provide cross-coverage support to the department director.

Requirements :
1. Education : Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Clinical Informatics or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
2. Licensure : Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or equivalent certification preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
3. Experience : Three (3) years progressively responsible and directly related leadership experience. Five (5) years' experience in healthcare quality, data analytics or patient safety, preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Proficiency in SQL, Excel and analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI); familiarity with EHR data structures and reporting tools (Epic preferred), benchmarking software maintenance and dashboards (e.g. Vizient). In-depth knowledge of Joint Commission standards, CMS quality reporting, and California-specific healthcare regulatory requirements. Experience with incident reporting and risk management systems preferred.
4. Essential Technical / Motor Skills : Working knowledge of statistics and ability to utilize computer programs, spreadsheets, database software, analysis and report writing. (Effective use of Microsoft products : Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other software utilized for benchmarking or report tracking. Effective time-management and multitasking skills, Ability to learn new data management systems to illustrate and interpret statistical data in meaningful way. Effective writing skills and meeting management skills.)
