Sr. Director, Corporate Security

The Corporate Security Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the organization's assets, employees, and information within an industrial setting. This role involves overseeing security operations, managing security budgets, conducting risk assessments, coordinating training, completing investigations, managing physical security upgrades and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The candidate must be willing to provide a regular on-site presence at each facility. This will be a remote working environment with regular time spent at the various business locations. This position reports to Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities :

Operations Management

  • Proactively collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams at multiple sites to effectively plan for and implement security enhancements and other workplace security projects and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain solid internal partnerships with key stakeholders, to include Human Resources, Environmental / Health / Safety, Information Technology, and Plant Operations, and be a representative of Global Security.
  • Coordinate and lead the service-oriented activities of on-site third-party security service providers by managing relationships, overseeing service agreements, and proactively seeking opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Champion physical security enhancements, drive a security-awareness culture, and oversee security-related initiatives by ensuring execution of strategy in collaboration with Global Security leadership.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct root-cause investigations, document incidents with recommendations for improvements.
  • Capable of being flexible to take on other security-related responsibilities, temporarily or permanently, as may be directed.
  • Regular travel to sites to maintain a consistent presence and vigilant evaluation or security program performance and needs
  • Manage access control systems, surveillance systems, and other security technologies.
  • Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and investigations of security incidents.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
  • Prepare and present security reports and recommendations to executive leadership and the board of directors.

Team Leadership

  • Oversight of third-party security officers and supervisors.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on security protocols, emergency response, and compliance requirements with a cross-functional on-site team.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant security regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on security incidents, compliance audits, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of security operations, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Incident Management

  • Lead investigations into security breaches, thefts, and other incidents.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to address and resolve security incidents effectively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with other departments, including HR, IT, and operations, to ensure integrated security efforts.
  • Liaise with external partners, including security vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate security strategies and policies to employees and stakeholders.
  • Qualifications

    Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in law enforcement and / or security with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, incident management, and security operations.
  • Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in security systems and technologies (e.g., access control, surveillance).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress industrial environment.
  • Availability for on-call duties and emergency response outside regular working hours.
  • Physical capability to conduct security inspections and respond to incidents as needed.
  • Ability to travel 75% of time with infrequent overnight stays
