Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.
Quality Technician – Summary
The Quality Technician provides technical support to the quality engineering functions. Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components and parts at various stages of the production process, to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards.
Responsibilities
- Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components on all types of standard and special products, to ensure alignment with product requirements and quality standards
- Coordinate calibration activities and maintain calibration records for tools, instruments, and gages used for product acceptance and verification / validation
- Assist Engineering and Operations in the investigation of non-conformities
- Perform internal audits to verify procedures and work instructions are in accordance with AS9100 standards
- Update quality procedures and work instructions to reflect current processes and AS9100 / ISO compliance
- Perform visual and mechanical inspection at sub-assembly and final assembly using engineering drawings and testing
- Inspect wires, sensors (e.g., force and pressure sensors) using gauges and measuring tools
- Identify defects such as corrosion, cracks, dents, and verify specifications against purchase orders, blueprints, and drawings
- Provide detailed analysis, troubleshooting and evaluation of components, assemblies and systems
- Maintain documentation records and data on tests performed
- Recommend quality control solutions and implement corrective actions
- Set up or build special test panels to facilitate testing and evaluation as needed
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance; may require nights / weekends or variable schedules
Qualifications
Experience performing examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components and partsExperience with inspection tools such as gauges, calipers, height gauges, pin and block gauges, V-blocks, micrometers, and comparatorsKnowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standardsFamiliar with casting, forging, molding, stainless-steel and electronic components in aerospaceExperience creating First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102) and customer-specific requirementsExperience in internal audits and recording resultsAbility to interpret engineering drawings using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Experience with blueprints, drawings and parts listsProficient in Microsoft OfficeBilingual; English and Spanish preferredEffective oral and written communicationEducation : High School Diploma / Equivalent and relevant work experience
