Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant supervisory experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS : Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
At General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll lead a team of exceptional engineers in a world-class environment, working on advanced, often classified technologies that support national security. As a SWC Systems Engineering Technical Manager, you'll oversee the development of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, AR / VR, Cloud Native, and Quantum Physics, applying them to various missions in cyber, RF, undersea, interstellar, and other domains.
Duties and Tasks :
- Provide leadership in defining technology, tool, and process strategy across a technical domain.
- Have overall responsibility for the engineering aspects of a technical domain, including resource acquisition.
- Direct, coordinate, and exercise authority for planning, organization, control, and completion of engineering efforts within your area.
- Identify project risks, assess issues, and develop resolutions to meet cost, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction goals.
- Review project status, manage budgets and schedules, and prepare status reports.
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and intervening when necessary.
- Serve as a liaison between project management, planning, project teams, and line management.
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation.
- Handle personnel issues, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Participate in developing technical and teaming strategies within your domain.
- Contribute to proposal development and project planning.
- Ensure compliance with engineering processes and lead process improvement activities.
- Determine and implement organizational training needs.
- Ensure domain engineers develop risk mitigation plans.
- Possibly have budget responsibilities.
- Interact regularly with subordinates, project customers, suppliers, and internal management.
- Receive objectives, allocate resources, and meet schedules and goals.
- Provide guidance within company policies and recommend policy changes.
- Manage work, set objectives, and delegate tasks for solutions development.
