Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors, and circulate throughout the store.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper bagging, receipts, and high-quality guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop's guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards programs.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company policies and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance in Workday / HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to shifts; ensure associates know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain high levels of guest service.
- Approve payroll, manage PTO, and verify pay for time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing; report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative duties.
- Conduct store inventory counts; stock and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
- Balance daily transactions, close out paperwork, and manage cash and bank deposits.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate discrepancies to leadership.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files and keep manuals up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook; follow opening / closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States; at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's preferred with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field.Retail management experience preferred (=6 months); retail sales / guest service / management experience preferred (=2 years).Video game knowledge preferred.Key Skills and Abilities
Strong people skills; outgoing and welcoming personality.Genuine, individualized guest assistance; clear communication, including English; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work independently and in a team; meet performance expectations.Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills; complete paperwork properly.Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days / week availability.Handle pressure, be a problem solver, reliable and trustworthy; able to work alone and stand / move for long periods.Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and using basic motor skills; knowledge of military ranks / insignia where applicable.Job descriptions may change and GameStop is an equal opportunity employer.
