Senior Accountant
We will accept applications for this position until we fill it. We will conduct the first round of applicant reviews beginning September 2, 2025. The Senior Accountant helps oversee and accomplish any day-to-day accounting operations, finance, and procurement-related functions for the Agency in close coordination with the Accounting Manager.

- Reviews reconciliations and ensures financial accuracy and timeliness of tasks and monthly and quarterly reports.
- Summarizes trends for management.
- Coordinates budget development across all departments with cost analysis and historical trends.

- Assists in mid-year and year-end forecasting.
- Reviews vendor contracts and payment terms for accuracy and risk.
- Ensures compliance with procurement laws, rules, and agency policies.
- Works with staff and legal counsel to resolve exceptions or issues related to procurement and invoicing.
- Interprets and applies accounting standards to agency operations.
- Ensures adherence to controls and corrects deficiencies.
- Prepares and reviews materials for external audits.
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance and risk management procedures and works cross-functionally to address claims and compliance issues.

Experience 4 years of professional-level accounting experience is required, preferably in governmental accounting.

This position can be hybridtypically with three days a week in the office at 13846 Conference Center Drive, Apple Valley, CAif the employee qualifies under Mojave Water Agency's Remote Work Policy. Remote work isn't guaranteed and may change over time.
