Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Drafter to join our manufacturing team. The Drafter will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and plans for enclosed trailers and Division 5 metals using CAD software. This role is essential for transforming standard and custom trailer concepts into clear, accurate documents for manufacturing and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings of trailer components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and / or Chief Architect
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings of steel building components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and / or Chief Architect
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect changes, improvements, or customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing team to interpret sketches, notes, and specifications.
- Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and ensure all drawings are properly documented and organized.
- Check drawings for accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Assist in developing and updating technical documentation, manuals, and assembly instructions.
- Communicate with production staff to resolve drawing-related questions or issues.
- Ensure all work meets applicable safety and regulatory standards for trailers and transportation equipment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting enhancements to drafting processes and standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in SolidWorks (required); experience with Chief Architect or similar CAD software preferred.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, especially related to structural assemblies.Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and trailer construction (preferred).Preferred Experience
2+ years of drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience creating drawings for trailers and / or custom RVs.Experience creating drawings for steel structures and related equipment such as stairways, mezzanines, and handrails.Knowledge of industry standards and regulations for trailer design.Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and document control.Additional Notes
Candidates with knowledge of metal fabrication and trailer assembly processes will be given preference.The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is important.Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are highly valued.
