Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Drafter to join our manufacturing team. The Drafter will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and plans for enclosed trailers and Division 5 metals using CAD software. This role is essential for transforming standard and custom trailer concepts into clear, accurate documents for manufacturing and assembly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings of trailer components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and / or Chief Architect
  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings of steel building components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and / or Chief Architect
  • Revise and update existing drawings to reflect changes, improvements, or customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing team to interpret sketches, notes, and specifications.
  • Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and ensure all drawings are properly documented and organized.
  • Check drawings for accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Assist in developing and updating technical documentation, manuals, and assembly instructions.
  • Communicate with production staff to resolve drawing-related questions or issues.
  • Ensure all work meets applicable safety and regulatory standards for trailers and transportation equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting enhancements to drafting processes and standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (required); experience with Chief Architect or similar CAD software preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, especially related to structural assemblies.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and trailer construction (preferred).
  • Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience creating drawings for trailers and / or custom RVs.
  • Experience creating drawings for steel structures and related equipment such as stairways, mezzanines, and handrails.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations for trailer design.
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and document control.
  • Additional Notes

  • Candidates with knowledge of metal fabrication and trailer assembly processes will be given preference.
  • The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is important.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are highly valued.
