American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring recent Level II or higher trauma and Cerner or Epic EMR experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 71-bed Emergency Department within a Level II Trauma CenterVery high acuity, functions as a Level I trauma environmentPatient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB / GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric casesPatient ratios : 1 : 4 in ER, 1 : 5 for med-surg holds, 1 : 3 for ICU holdsShifts available : 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, 3p-3a on a 4-week scheduling cycleWeekend rotation required every other weekend or 4 weekend days per block scheduleNo floating requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesUses Cerner for EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitorsResponsibilities include caring for a diverse, high-acuity emergency patient population in a trauma settingSupport staff includes CNAs (1 : 12), receptionist / HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy until 3 : 00am, IV / VAT team, and hospitalistsOrientation consists of 24 hours classroom and 24 hours on the unit for new or returning travelers gone more than 1 yearHoliday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday per policy; blackout dates applySolid color scrubs are requiredParking is available in the parking garageCOVID vaccination is not required for employment\n \n Requirements\n
Active AL or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER), with the most recent year in a Level II ERLevel II Trauma Center or higher experience requiredExperience with Cerner or Epic EMR requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and Secure / CPI (nationally recognized / JACHO accepted)Proficient with trach care, vent care, ICU drips, chest tube management, arterial lines, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley caths, orthopedic devices, bipap / hi-flow, and continuous bladder irrigationFirst-time travelers considered with meeting all experience and EMR requirementsPrevious permanent staff must wait 6 months before being eligible for travel positionsMust reside more than 60 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
