Job Title : Continuous Improvement Associate (Part-Time)

Department : Technical / Quality

Reports To : Technical Program Supervisor

Hours : 25–30 hours per week

Pay : $17.50 - $19.50 Based on Experience

Position Summary

The Continuous Improvement Associate (Part-Time) supports this mission by maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe work environment while driving 5S and process improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who enjoys structure, organization, and hands-on problem-solving. The Associate will help implement and sustain Lean and 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to strengthen Fasteners Direct's commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) - directly contributing to our company's culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

5S & Workplace Organization

  • Implement, monitor, and sustain 5S standards across warehouse, kit room, and quality control areas.
  • Lead visual organization efforts - labeling, layout, and tool placement - to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Support a clean, structured environment through regular audits and team engagement.
  • Promote ownership of 5S among cross-functional teams through communication and follow-up.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Observe daily workflows and identify opportunities to eliminate waste and inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Technical and Operations to implement small-scale process improvements that enhance flow, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Participate in improvement projects, data collection, and follow-up evaluations to sustain gains.
  • Take part in team discussions that reinforce accountability and innovation.
  • Inventory Accuracy & Support

  • Conduct scheduled cycle counts using handheld scanners to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Report discrepancies or material flow issues promptly to Quality leadership.
  • Support the organization and transfer of QC-approved materials, ensuring proper documentation and location accuracy.
  • Collaboration & Team Alignment

  • Partner with internal departments to ensure efficient communication and task coordination.
  • Uphold Fasteners Direct's core values by promoting teamwork, respect, and shared accountability.
  • Model safe work practices and support SQDC goals through consistency and discipline.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and reliability.
  • Self-driven, able to manage workload efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with good communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
  • Comfortable using handheld scanners.
  • Forklift experience or certification preferred ( training available) .
  • Work Schedule & Environment

  • Part-time position (25–30 hours per week) with flexible scheduling during standard business hours.
  • On-site position within the warehouse and quality control areas.
  • May occasionally support special projects or process improvement events as needed.
  • This position offers hands-on involvement in both process improvement and daily operations - ideal for someone who enjoys seeing immediate results from their efforts.
