Job Overview : The Interior Designer works closely with the project design team from concept to completion. Responsible for client presentations and production of complete, accurate and well-coordinated documents that are in accordance with The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry standards, on time and within budget. Works on complex projects, often multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a design team to meet project deadlines, construction and FF&A budget targets, and highest design quality standards.
- Represent the interiors team at client presentations to understand client concept and accurately relay that to the design team.
- Establish and maintain effective client relationship for duration of project.
- Assist the Project Lead in establishing the project FF&A budget and program development.
- Make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement.
- Develop and document design millwork details, finishes, material palettes, furnishings and specifications that are consistent with the design direction and support overall quality of the project.
- Collaborate with Purchasing Agent to provide complete FF&A budgets and schedules.
- Promote a collaborative team atmosphere.
- Assist in project proposals and marketing efforts.
- Actively participate in professional development.
- Maintain professional license and professional affiliations.
- Contribute to the overall quality and success of the project, studio, and firm.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Interior Design program or a related design program with a bachelor's level degree.Registered Interior Designer.Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Luxury Hospitality / Food & Beverage design.Creative, collaborative, and able to thrive in a team atmosphere.Demonstrated ability to produce high quality, complete sets of drawings for complex projects using required software.Strong understanding of building systems and building codes.Strong organizational, coordination and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to lead a team of professionals and consultants to meet project objectives on time and within scope and budget.Competency in all aspects of design.Demonstrated presentation skills.Cruise ship experience preferred.Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Designers I and II, including training, leading, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, planning and aiding in problem resolution. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Reports to Principal and TJS Directors.
Physical Demands
Majority of time is spent in sitting position.Ability to move throughout the office either by walking or through assisted means.There are minimal lifting requirements for this position.Some activities may require standing, bending and stooping for short periods of time.Equal Opportunity Employer
