Principal Architect - Data & Enterprise Solutions
Location : Denver, CO
Compensation : $170,000 - $210,000 annually, depending on experience
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Principal Architect to drive enterprise data modernization, governance, and AI strategy across the organization. This is a senior-level leadership position responsible for establishing technical direction, building scalable architecture frameworks, and guiding teams through major transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Microsoft technologies, data architecture, and cloud strategy, coupled with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable business solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Systems Design
Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise data systems.
Lead design and integration efforts across the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate, Dataverse).
Optimize SQL Server environments, including SSRS and SSIS, to support analytics and reporting.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align data and application architecture with business priorities.
Champion modernization by transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based and data-driven platforms.
Data Strategy & Governance
Build and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring standardization and compliance across all data assets.
Oversee data classification, cataloging, and lineage to strengthen data visibility and control.
Ensure ongoing compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
Monitor and improve data quality, with processes for auditing and recovery.
AI & Advanced Analytics
Define and execute a strategic roadmap for AI adoption across business units.
Evaluate, implement, and govern AI and automation technologies.
Establish standards for model management, data ethics, and quality assurance.
Foster organizational AI literacy and a culture of innovation.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide technical direction and mentorship to architecture, data, and development teams.
Oversee project delivery, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Partner with executive leadership to guide enterprise-level technology strategy.
Act as a trusted advisor on emerging technologies and architectural best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, enterprise systems design, or solution architecture.
Proven expertise with Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, SQL Server, SSRS, and SSIS.
Demonstrated success implementing data governance and modernization frameworks.
Experience defining and deploying AI and automation initiatives.
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
