American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a ME or compact RN license and strong neuro and trauma skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting26-bed ICU including some negative pressure roomsCaring for medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional patientsConditions include ICP monitoring, EVD, spinal precautions, DKA, multi-system trauma, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, and strokePatient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with a possible third patient during discharge or transferNight shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, with every other weekend requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesFloating may be required to Cardiac Care Unit, Cardiac or Medical Stepdown, or to PICU if pediatric experience is presentUses Cerner for charting; experience preferredUtilizes Alaris and Pyxis equipmentCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurse, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma surgery teamGeneral hospital orientation followed by one shift of unit orientation providedFlu vaccination required for assignment; only medical exemptions will be consideredHoliday coverage varies and requires manager approval for requestsProfessional solid color scrubs requiredFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyFree parking is available in designated areas\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME RN license or compact RN licenseMinimum 2 years of ICU experience requiredCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requiredStrong neuro and trauma experience including EVD and ICP monitoring requiredExperience with ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke, hemodynamic lines (A-lines / CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and strong assessment skills requiredCerner experience preferredPALS certification preferred if candidate has PICU experience and may float to the unitApplicants must not have worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacityPermanent address must be 100+ miles South / Southwest of the facility\n Benefits\n
