The Property Tax Division of the Land Information and Tax Services department is seeking to fill a Real Estate and Tax Specialist III position. Under limited supervision, this position will review, process, and maintain property tax records and assist clients with transactions related to payments, mail processing, and other complex property tax questions and topics. Location and hours : This position is located at the Hennepin County Government Center located at 300 South 6th Street Minneapolis, MN, 55487. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 7 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. About the position : This is a full-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a Real Estate and Tax Specialist III. In this position, you will : Process property tax payments, daily mail, tax statements, and penalty notices. Maintain accurate tax records and follow established audit and retention practices. Review and determine property tax payment posting according to established policies. Perform complex tax calculations and manage specialized tax programs, calculate taxes due and payoff amounts for current and delinquent taxes, manually key payment information in tax system, and reconciliation of daily work. Respond to inquiries from taxpayers, attorneys, and mortgage and title companies regarding payment processing and expectations. Research, analyze, and resolve questions for customers and process related items according to established procedures and expectations.
