Registered Nurse - Maternity Care

As a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, you will play a crucial role in guiding nursing care on the unit, adhering to policies and procedures while providing exceptional support to patients and their families.\n\nResponsibilities\n

• Follow established nursing practices while interpreting policies to support licensed staff, assistants, residents, families, and physicians.\n
• Manage nurse handovers effectively, ensuring a smooth transition in patient care.\n
• Conduct rounds, direct care activities, and promptly report any changes in patient condition to the appropriate personnel.\n
• Supervise and evaluate all aspects of direct patient care, making necessary adjustments and providing guidance to nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses.\n
• Perform basic nursing skills, including the administration of medications, completing admissions, transfers, and discharges in compliance with facility policies.\n
• Conduct and document comprehensive patient assessments, leading the development of tailored care plans.\n
• Ensure accurate documentation of all nursing activities and patient interactions, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.\n
• Support and provide feedback on the performance of nursing staff, participating in evaluations and recommending actions when necessary.\n
• Maintain emergency equipment, conduct safety checks, and adhere to infection control practices.\n
• Foster effective communication and teamwork with all stakeholders, including residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.\n
• Act as a chaperone for patients during various examinations and procedures as required.\n\nQualifications\n
• Education : Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Science preferred.\n
• Experience : A minimum of one year in rehabilitative, psychiatric, or geriatric nursing is preferred.\n
• Licensure : Valid Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.\n
