Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel. Facilitates patient / physician / provider communication and coordination of care.
Job Functions
- Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR.
- Administers prescribed medications / vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification / licensure.
- Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
- Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day.
- Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments / exam rooms.
- Assists in arranging referrals / prior authorizations as necessary.
- Assists with patient education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education / Work Experience
Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical NursingKnowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient careAbility to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned aboveAbility to multi-taskAbility to serve patients in a friendly and efficient mannerKnowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work autonomously and as a teamCapable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsLicense / Certification
Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (new grad's will have 1 year to become certified / licensed in order to maintain employment)Current CPR certificationPreferred Qualifications
