Overview

The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) is the pillar of human resources management for all state employees. This opportunity involves providing classification policy guidance, compensation program support, consultation on layoff / position reduction plans, and support to the Labor Relations Division. The position is located in Sacramento, with hybrid telework options and in-person work at least two days per week. Responsibilities

  • Provide classification policy guidance related to the state\'s classification structure, including position allocation, new classifications, and revisions to existing classifications.
  • Support the compensation program with salary analysis, pay differentials, red circle rates, special salary adjustments, and salary relationship charts.
  • Consult on departmental layoff / position reduction plans and support the California Employee Association (CEA) program.
  • Provide support to the Labor Relations Division as needed.
  • Assist with information about applying for state jobs and coordinate with recruitment teams as part of the application process.

  • Minimum and Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum : Qualifications are listed in the Class Specification; typical roles include STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I and STAFF PERSONNEL PROGRAM ANALYST.
  • Desirable qualifications include : personnel management experience in a control agency or line department; knowledge of classification and pay principles; ability to lead and develop teams; project management experience; strong analytical and communication skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
