Position overview

The Production Planning / Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for creating production schedules for specific product areas that allow efficient lead times for orders to be produced, meeting all ship dates and maintaining workload balance across shifts. The role manages customer orders after they are received and processed by customer service, as well as all onsite production inventory. This is a hands-on role working with onsite manufacturing, customer service, and procurement teams to achieve detailed outcomes. The role will oversee production scheduling, receiving processes, backorder oversight, cycle counts, stock level management, and contribute to team standard work and process training and transactional accuracy.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish production schedules for multiple equipment lines (e.g., Roll Form Mills, flat sheet, shear, slitter) based on sales orders, drawings, and plans.
  • Maintain accurate production planning to meet site capacity, issue run lists and related paperwork, and manage order amendments and backorder communications with Customer Service.
  • Collaborate with team to maintain daily / weekly productivity Records and throughput capacity data.
  • Oversee full-cycle process for standard stocked flat sheet program, including creating a purchase requisition worksheet and updating production orders to meet demand while minimizing aged stock.
  • Schedule and participate in cycle count processes to ensure inventory accuracy (Buyout, Flat Sheet, Coil, Finished Goods).
  • Responsible for inventory-related activities during bi-annual site inventory event.
  • Oversee receiving transactions and the put-away of materials.

Education & Experience Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in a high-volume production environment.
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and in a scheduling or production planning role.
  • SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively; strong prioritization and workflow management.
  • Attendance and reliability; adherence to shift start / finish times and break periods.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy; willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Customer focus and excellent organizational skills.
  • Follow BSL safety standards; functional / technical skills; initiative; listening skills; teamwork and peer relationships; proficiency in English; and effective communication.
  • Salary & Benefits

    This position's estimated hourly rate is $24.08 - $36.09. Actual base rate will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible for 401(k) savings plan, healthcare (medical, dental and vision), and other rewards.
