About The Position

Certifications : BLS, ARRT

Must-Have : Ability to start IVs; TAVR CT and Coronary CT experience beneficial

Description :

The department has a total of 3 scanners, with 2 located in one area and 1 in another.

There is no requirement to float or cover other areas.

Common types of imaging and studies performed include extremities, head and neck, vascular, cardiac, TAVR, and runoffs.

There is a heavy Emergency Room volume of cases with approximately 60% of scans coming from the Emergency Department.

Technologists will assist with fluoroscopy in interventional radiology cases.

This includes drain placements, liver biopsies, lung biopsies, cryoablation, and abscess drainage.

Experience with TAVR CT is preferred, along with general CT experience.

The department typically performs about 80 scans per day between two technologists.

Documentation is done by one technologist while the other scans.

The Electronic Medical Record system used is Change Healthcare, along with PACS and Terarecon for cardiac imaging.

Department-specific equipment includes Toshiba / Canon and Phillips scanners.

Radiology Supervisors or Lead Technologists are available in both areas.

Radiology Assistants are utilized for transport needs.

There is in-house radiologist coverage from 7 AM to 10 PM, with on-call service available after hours.

Technologists are required to start IVs.

There may be occasions when a technologist will be the only tech in-house within the department with variable shift times.

Flexibility in working weekends is expected.

Typically, there are no holiday shifts required.

There are no on-call or standby requirements.

Any color of professional scrubs may be worn, and a specific color will be designated in October.

A week-long department-specific orientation will be provided, including opportunities to ask questions while transitioning to more independent work.

A radiation badge will be provided by the employer.

The cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks.

The charting system used in the department is Cerner.
