The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engine Pallet Build Technician to support engine development and validation programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in engine builds, test stand setup, and data acquisition systems. You will be responsible for executing engine pallet builds for dynamometer testing, setting up and calibrating transducers and sensors, and ensuring that test procedures are followed in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Engine Setup :
- Perform engine builds and teardown activities as per engineering specifications.
- Mount and align engines on the dynamometer test pallets.
- Route and connect fuel, coolant, exhaust, air intake, and electrical systems.
- Sensor & Transducer Setup :
- Install and calibrate various sensors and transducers (thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, torque and speed sensors).
- Verify proper signal conditioning and connectivity with data acquisition systems.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting :
- Perform routine maintenance on test pallets and dyno equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware and sensor issues during test preparation and execution.
- Collaboration & Compliance :
- Work closely with test engineers, instrumentation technicians, and quality teams.
- Follow all EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) protocols and testing standards such as ISO 17025, EPA 1065 / 40 CFR Part 1065, or Euro VI.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
High school diploma or associate degree in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field (technical certificate or apprenticeship acceptable with experience).2+ years of hands-on experience in engine dynamometer testing or engine test lab operations.Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and mechanical systems.Proficiency in setting up sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, torque, etc.).Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Willingness to work in shifts or overtime as testing schedule requires.What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Dyno Operation :Operate engine dynamometer systems to run durability, performance, and emissions tests.Familiarity with test automation platforms (AVL PUMA, INCA, NI LabVIEW / TestStand, or equivalent).Monitor test progress, log test parameters, and ensure all safety protocols are followed.Data Collection & Quality :Ensure accurate data collection and integrity throughout the test cycle.Perform pre- and post-test checks for test quality, anomalies, and equipment health.Document test results and report abnormal engine behaviors to engineering staff.Onsite : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac, MI on a full-time basis.
