Description

Rudolph and Sletten is looking for a Senior Field Engineer who will primarily support field operations. This includes ensuring plans and specifications are adhered to with quality control measures implemented. Accurate and timely reporting of daily work, quantities, and the associated documentation requirements is expected. This position reports directly to the Project Manager, Field Supervision or other assigned supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures within construction field.
  • Interprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualifications.
  • Understands necessary control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment.
  • Review submittals against specifications.
  • Reviews mock-up and / or shop drawings and specifications.
  • Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work.
  • Able to coordinate with Subcontractors and Suppliers.
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of subcontractor non-compliance and coordinates with QA / QC.
  • Verifies that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
  • Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
  • Researches and proposes solutions to quality control issues.
  • Creates and processes RFI's.
  • Prepares field design change requisitions and "as built" drawings, as required.
  • Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and sequencing.
  • Prepares and disseminates all required documentation records to supervisor, such as status reports, punch lists, sketches of work, and material requirement calculations.
  • Understands company's quality control plan and documents quality control issues with weekly photos.
  • Reviews and comments on viability of design as required; conducts value engineering functions.
  • Aware of target vs. actual productivity on self-performed work.
  • Sensitive to environmental issues and management of them.
  • Helps to create a safe work site and identifies job hazards to reduce danger.
  • Understands the company safety program and participates in safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate.
  • Participates in job walks and documents and reports findings.
  • Understands PCO process and potential to identify PCO / change orders.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs.
  • Understands the impacts of project performance on insurance and bonds.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of discipline, construction technology, design, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; good written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Performs work tasks with direction and independently, with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills.
  • Analyzes and resolves construction process problems and effectively communicates with all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrates dependability, diligence, and thoroughness; exercises creativity and resourcefulness to complete tasks in a compressed timeframe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or four years' experience in the construction management field
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as an entry level Project Engineer on field projects
  • Experience with large commercial projects; healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, science & technology is desired
  • Ability to communicate well with multiple levels of personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously
  • Works well at project sites in the field
  • Knowledge of plan reading required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of scheduling, estimating and cost software
