Maintenance Electrician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for installing main electrical power supply wiring and conduit for various equipment including robots, welders, motor control centers, conveyors, air handlers, mixers, presses, hydraulic components, and kilns. You will connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connect cables and wires between them, ensuring compliance with industry standards and electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, PLCs, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires / cables.
• Calculate proper fuse / circuit breaker configuration if not provided by original equipment manufacturer.
• Use PCs and other interface equipment to program and diagnose PLCs and electronic equipment controls.
• Diagnose and replace faulty hydraulic and pneumatic electrical components of machines and equipment.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices. Replace motor bearings and rewire motors.
• Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss issues with other maintenance workers.
• Ensure all safety policies are followed, including Life Critical Safety Rules.
• Regularly inspect and evaluate electrical and electronic equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain records of equipment status and maintenance.
• Study blueprints and schematics to determine the best method of repair or replacement and identify material / electrical requirements with part numbers and equipment needed.
