Overview
Electrical Controls Engineer II - PERM 9711 at BSH Home Appliances Corporation - North America. Location : 100 Bosch Blvd., New Bern, North Carolina 28562. Provide electrical and controls engineering services to the manufacturing engineering department for the assigned value stream or site, supporting production equipment, operations and processes. Focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost while standardizing electrical controls for process and factory equipment.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, maintain and improve the efficiency of electrical hardware and production equipment, systems, and processes related to safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Develop and maintain equipment standards for procurement, manufacture and maintenance of production equipment (cost, availability, process safety, reliability, ease of use, repairability).
- Plan and acquire equipment; analyze electro-mechanical and electrical parts through planning, design review, acquisition, and implementation of production equipment concepts.
- Optimize existing automation systems and production equipment to increase process safety and machine availability; implement improvements after analysis.
- Collaborate with Electronic and Maintenance Technicians to resolve issues and return equipment to production with high-quality output.
- Archive and maintain technical documentation with appropriate software; ensure updated documents and programs are available to manufacturing facilities and electrical maintenance groups.
- Plan and implement modifications with fabrication and assembly equipment in coordination with departments and contractors.
- Prepare maintenance work to extend the service life of equipment and devices; assist planning in improving maintainability of new machines.
- Travel to equipment suppliers during pre-acceptance runoffs and participate in handover activities to end-user departments.
- Study product requirements and determine how electrical design of machinery can meet those requirements; implement control changes where needed.
- Act as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams; lead projects for automation and IIoT data acquisition on the shop floor.
- Build interfaces of machine and production areas into MES and Enterprise System infrastructure; lay out HMI panels with integrators for user-friendly configuration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field; plus 3 years of experience in relevant roles (Testing Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer, Automation Controls Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or related discrete manufacturing environment).Experience with : (1) Electrical and controls systems, circuits, components, and software (Siemens TIA Portal, SEW configuration, MOVITOOL, IFM, PNOZ); (2) Industrial robotic programming; (3) PLC programming (Siemens or Allen-Bradley); (4) Application programming (C++ or Visual Basic); (5) CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN); (6) Proper use of digital multimeters, machine vision systems (Keyence or Cognex), or high-potential testers.Willingness to travel 10% domestically and internationally.Details
