Salary : $35.76 - $37.01 / hour

SALARY RANGE : $35.76 - $37.01 / hour

CLOSING DATE : Applications reviewed daily until position is filled.

POSITION DETAIL : This is a temporary position for up to six months.

The City is looking for a Development Inspector to work in the Community Development Department for up to 6 months. The Community Development Department consists of a Planning Division and a Building Division that work together to implement the communitys vision for the city, plan for the future and regulate development. The inspector would work as a member of a collaborative engineering and inspection team.

The primary responsibility is inspection of development related projects for compliance with approved plans, City Engineering Standards, and City code. The job offers varied and interesting tasks in the following areas :

  • Inspect and document development from initial construction through final warranty Inspection includes public infrastructure such as water and storm systems, roads, parks, sidewalks, ADA ramps, signing and landscaping as well as private development.
  • Review approved construction plans for inspection purposes and maintains a record of field changes for comparison with as-built drawings.
  • Communicate inspection results and deficiencies with contractors and other City
  • Code enforcement including monitoring a variety of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations related to zoning, land use, nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, graffiti and other matters of public concern.
  • Address public complaints, questions and concerns regarding development

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

The City is seeking a community minded development inspector who is able to manage a sizable workload, complete projects in a timely manner, interface with the public and be a contributing, collaborative member of the City team during a period of rapid growth.

The ideal candidate will :

  • Possess a flexible can-do attitude focused on high levels of customer service and a willingness and ability to pitch in and help when needed to get any job done.
  • Be able to organize and effectively express ideas through oral and written communications to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Have the proven ability to effectively manage a diverse set of job responsibilities.
  • Qualified candidates will have :

  • Education : Associate degree in a field related to job requirements
  • Experience : Two years experience in heavy civil construction, inspection, code enforcement or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of :
  • Methods and techniques of inspection related to streets, water, stormwater, parks, and
  • City Engineering Standards and City Code
  • Standard construction practices for public
  • Safety procedures and
  • Principles and procedures of record
  • Familiarity with the American Public Works Association / Washington State Department of Transportation construction specifications is desired. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

    EMPLOYEE BENEFITS :

    As a temporary employee with the City of Ridgefield, you are eligible for holiday pay if a recognized City holiday falls on your regularly scheduled workday. Additionally, you will receive 40 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) and accrue 4 hours of sick leave per pay period. The City also offers an Employee Assistance Program to support your well-being.
