American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 18 months of recent acute care experience and an active IN or compact license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a short-term acute care hospitalMain patient population includes cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients, as well as cardiology, endocrine, and oncology casesAssignment includes cross-coverage of PCU and MedSurg units as needed, with flex acuityPatient ratios are typically 1 : 5Night shifts (3x12 or 4x12 hours), with every other weekend requiredFloating is required within the hospital or to an affiliated hospitalUses Cerner EMR; prior experience is requiredAll private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoringCare includes post-op management for cardiac surgery patients such as CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATSAdditional preferred skills : intra-aortic balloon pump, pre / post cath care, sheath removal, and ventricular assist device managementMust be comfortable floating between PCU, MedSurg, and ICU within scopeFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyCandidates must work two out of three major holidaysScrub color requirement : black bottoms and red topsFree parking available on sitePre-start online modules (average 4-6 hours) are required\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or compact RN license must be in hand prior to startMinimum of 18 months recent acute care RN experienceCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification preferredAssociate or Bachelor’s degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing programAbility to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, post cardiac surgery care, arterial and central line management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive dripsCompetency with blood product administration and PICC line care requiredExperience with ventilator management preferredPrevious charge nurse experience is preferred but not requiredNo local IN candidates accepted for this unitCandidates must have been separated from any perm or PRN employment at IU for at least 12 months\n Benefits\n
