We have a great opportunity to join our South Dakota Quotations Team as a Quotations Specialist. This role may be based out of either of our South Dakota branches located in Sioux Falls, SD and Watertown, SD. As a Quotations Specialist, this role is responsible for developing accurate and competitive quotations for switchgear, power distribution, and / or lighting products. This role requires strong attention to detail, broad technical knowledge, and the ability to deliver timely, comprehensive quotes that meet customer specifications and deadlines. The Quotations Specialist supports the full project lifecycle by analyzing specifications, interpreting documents, and preparing quotes based on customer needs and company guidelines.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed quotations and optimized solutions by analyzing project specifications, blueprints, scope and customer requirements.

Obtain accurate product pricing, availability, and lead times by consulting with vendor reps / suppliers.

Clarify expectations, provide status updates and next steps communication by working closely with customers and vendors. Includes updates to quotations based on changes in project scope or customer requirements, to ensure competitive pricing and profitability.

Keep projects and quotes organized to effectively manage project deadlines and maintain historical records of quotations, pricing, and correspondence.

Upon approved quote, follow up with customers, vendors, and reps to ensure orders are entered correctly externally and returned submittals are processed correctly. This includes keeping an eye on how the project moves forward and intermittent problem solving as needed.

Work with Project Manager to ensure accurate internal order entry, submittal, shipping, expediting and billing processes on project jobs.

Collaborate and communicate with the sales team to follow up on quotes, address customer inquiries, and close sales.

Attend vendor training and stay updated on new lighting products, technology, and industry trends.

Assist with the organization and distribution of bid lists.

Qualifications

Education

Highschool diploma or GED

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred

Experience and / or Training

2+ years of experience in switchgear quotations, electrical sales, or a related role

Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical plans and technical documents

Proficiency in MS Office and quotation software (experience with ERP or CRM systems is a plus)

Aptitude for resolving customer inquiries or complaints quickly and efficiently

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and to other employees of the organization

Organized, detail oriented, strong time management skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple quotes and collaborate within a multi-functional team

Strong analytical and decision-making skills

A team player – works together with others to accomplish common goals of company.

Consistent and tenacious

Self-motivated and self-starter, able to work independently as needed

Wholesale distribution experience preferred

5+ years in electrical distribution or related experience preferred

Licenses / Certificates

Valid US Driver’s license and reliable transportation
