About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : RN (Registered Nurse)

Specialty : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour Day / Night Rotate

Hours per Shift : 36 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience required

License : Active RN License required

Certifications : BLS, PALS required

Must-Have : 2 years of PICU experience is a hard requirement

Description :

Unit has a total of 20 beds with an average daily census of around 15.

ICU ratios are 1 : 1-2, and Step Down is 1 : 3.

Daytime has at least 1 nurse aide, and sometimes 2; nights have 1.

Nurse aides assist RNs with feeding, FSBS, and preparing beds for admissions.

Pediatrician is in-house 24 / 7 with call room on the unit.

Residents and APPs are also present 24 / 7.

Telemetry is monitored off unit, and all patients are on central monitors.

RNs read strips off unit.

Shifts include 7a-7p and 7p-7a with self-scheduling possible.

Weekend requirement is 2 weekends in a 4-week schedule.

Travelers are expected to work holidays as needed.

Floating within children's units is required, with normal ratios expected.

Scrub color is royal blue with fun, kid-friendly tops; no t-shirts allowed.

Unit-specific orientation includes EPIC training and competencies.

Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per contract.

Charting system is EPIC.

BSN is not required.
