Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and functional testing of simple fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards.
• Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies.
• Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, fire doors, tampers and flows.
• Assist senior technicians with the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems.
• Shadow experienced technicians during site visits to observe and learn industry best practices in system management and servicing.
• Engage in training sessions and workshops to develop foundational knowledge of fire protection system components, technologies, and operational procedures.
• Participate in routine inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of fire alarm systems as needed.
• Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies.
• Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs.
• Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in all on-site activities and training exercises to ensure a secure working environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, actively contributing to project tasks and fostering a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

Ability to obtain US Secret Clearance. Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements. Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors.
