Position Overview
Ellaway Blues Consulting is recruiting for a Senior Process Control Engineer to support our client's plant operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the PLC / SCADA infrastructure, contributing to capital projects, and driving process improvements across the facility. The position requires strong collaboration with stakeholders in engineering, production, maintenance, utilities, IT, environmental, safety, and management.
This is a hands-on role requiring technical depth in automation and controls, combined with the ability to lead projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and support critical plant systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the plant's PLC and SCADA infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot, install, and maintain process control equipment including actuated valves, field instruments, remote I / O panels, and SCADA servers / workstations.
- Program ladder logic, function blocks, and structured text using RSLogix and other Rockwell Automation tools.
- Develop and update HMI graphics within GE iFix and Ignition platforms.
- Support and maintain Ethernet-based control networks.
- Review engineering documentation for capital and internal projects, ensuring controls alignment.
- Oversee controls-related aspects of new installations, system upgrades, and construction projects.
- Develop control strategies in partnership with process engineers to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with design, project management, and document control standards.
- Administer and optimize PI data historian tags, graphics, and reports.
- Support process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred).7+ years of experience as a process control engineer in a chemical, energy, petroleum, utilities, or other heavy industrial environment.Authorized to work in the United States.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Proficiency in Rockwell Automation programming platforms (RSLogix, ControlLogix, etc.).Experience interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and instrumentation wiring diagrams.Ability to work full-time onsite.Desired Qualities
Experience with Ignition (Perspective), GE iFix, and / or OSI PI HMI / data historian platforms.Background in chemical processing, utilities, or power generation (Co-Gen, combined cycle, etc.) is highly desirable.Hands-on troubleshooting experience with heavy industrial equipment.Familiarity with process optimization, closed-loop control tuning, and advanced process control strategies.Strong problem-solving ability and the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced industrial environment.Ellaway Blues Consulting offers a competitive salary range of $160,000.00 / yr - $175,000.00 / yr for this position.
