Front-End Developer (UI / UX) Evanston, IL

Bear Claw is a growing SaaS company transforming applicant tracking and passive candidate headhunting. We’re looking for a talented Front-End Developer (UI / UX) to join our engineering team and play a key role in building Bear Claw’s new user interface. This is a unique opportunity to own the user interface for a high-impact product and help shape the experience for thousands of users.

What You’ll Do

Lead the development of Bear Claw’s new UI, translating designs and prototypes into responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement UX best practices, leveraging Figma for wireframes, prototypes, and usability testing.

Build and consume authenticated APIs and integrate with back-end services (Node.js, AWS Lambda).

Incorporate AI-driven insights and data visualization (Amazon Redshift) into the UI, creating smarter and more personalized user experiences.

Write clean, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.

Ensure scalability, performance, and accessibility across the application.

Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and TDD initiatives.

Use analytics and user feedback to continuously improve the product experience.

What We’re Looking For

3–7 years of front-end or full-stack development experience.

Strong skills in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern styling frameworks (Tailwind, Material-UI, etc.).

Experience building and consuming APIs; familiarity with Node.js and cloud tools (AWS Lambda, Redshift, S3, EC2, Docker, Git).

Understanding of UX principles and proficiency with Figma (Sketch or Adobe XD a plus).

Interest in leveraging AI and data visualization to enhance user experience.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage tasks independently and collaborate effectively.

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience; a strong portfolio can substitute.
