Hours Worked : Monday through Friday, 40 per week, flexible to meet department needs and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for reviewing the accuracy of data and serving as a technical liaison with clients. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting standards and regulations, conducting technical training, quoting projects, and working with clients to resolve technical problems. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of transit engineering principles, the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical assessments and solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic testing on diverse transit containers and materials using specialized ISTA equipment
- Evaluate test results for compliance with ISTA and ASTM transit requirements
- Demonstrate expertise in packaging engineering and transit testing methodologies, liaising with clients internally and externally
- Prepare samples for testing following rigorous standards and specifications
- Perform final review and critical error analysis of technical data and reports
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical testing challenges
- Review contract requirements to ensure client specification adherence
- Assess product samples for quality and safety considerations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current industry regulations and testing standards
- Provide technical consultation and problem resolution for client inquiries
- Prepare detailed written and verbal communications for internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate testing between laboratory departments
- Develop and implement new testing services, methods, and procedures
- Train and provide technical guidance to laboratory technicians
- Operate and maintain testing equipment and analytical instrumentation
- Organize and monitor workload to meet laboratory turnaround times
- Manage lab cleanliness and supply inventory
- Interface with staff to ensure global testing consistency
- Assist in departmental project coordination
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintain meticulous documentation and reporting standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures
- Follow the guidelines set forth in Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures
- Comply with Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
- Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload

Engineer I :
Serve as primary technical contact for external and internal clients specializing in transit testing and reliabilityProvide technical consultation relating to ISTA testing requirementsDeliver precise recommendations and interpretations addressing compliance, test requests, and complex testing challengesInteract / participate with industry to review and interpret standardsMaintain comprehensive understanding of evolving ISTA, ASTM, and international transportation testing protocolsPrepare and deliver technically sophisticated quotes, proposals, and presentations to prospective and existing clientsPrepare and deliver quotes, proposals, presentations, calls to prospects and clientsDevelop materials and conduct client visits and educational toursDevelop comprehensive technical materials demonstrating transit testing capabilitiesConduct professional client visits and educational tours explaining transit testing processesTranslate technical testing insights into clear, actionable client recommendationsProvide mentorship and technical direction for junior engineers and techniciansGuide technical and administrative aspects of departmental transit testing projectsOffer strategic direction to staff members across testing initiativesProvide support for technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projectsEngineer II :

4 year degree in a technical / engineering discipline and up to 2 years related experience; or2 year degree in a technical / engineering discipline and 3-4 years related experienceISTA Certified Packaging Dynamics Professional (PDP) certification (preferred)Engineer II :
4 year degree in a technical / engineering discipline and 3-5 years related experience; or2 year degree in a technical / engineering discipline and 5-7 years related experienceISTA Certified Packaging Dynamics Professional (PDP) certification (preferred)An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation
