Reports to : R&D Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary :

The R&D Technician I will be responsible for supporting the R&D quality team in developing production-ready quality inspection processes and helping to drive improvements through collection of quality data from quality records for trending purposes. This role involves driving completion of quality activities such as NCRs and CAPAs, enhancing efficiency of quality inspection processes, and providing metrology support for R&D projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a detail-oriented nature, and a passion for collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Data Analysis : Utilize data analytics to monitor production process and QMS process output and prepare periodic reports of key metrics for the management team.
  • Technical Support : Provide technical support to quality inspections by mastering inspection techniques, developing inspection process improvements, and training quality inspectors.
  • Metrology Support : Provide metrology support for R&D projects.
  • R&D Build Support : Provide support for R&D builds by completing line clearance audits and providing feedback to inspectors as they work through inspections.
  • Quality Inspection Support : Perform inspections for R&D builds as required by management.
  • Engineering Testing Support : Perform engineering benchtop tests supporting design verification, process validation, proof of concept, and lot release testing as required.
  • Training and Development : Develop and deliver training for local teams on R&D to ensure that engineering requirements for devices are met and engineering's intentions are understood by inspectors.

Qualifications :

  • Experience : 1-3 years' professional experience in a technical field or as a technician in a manufacturing environment. Medical device industry experience or experience in another similarly regulated industry preferred.
  • Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of validation processes, measurement equipment, and documentation. Proficiency in CAD software and data analysis software such as Minitab preferred.
  • Documentation Skills : Ability to consistently produce attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate documentation that complies with good documentation practices.
  • Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication : Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Travel : Travel is not required for this role.
