Java Full Stack Developer

RDTS is seeking an Application Development Expert, specifically a Java Full Stack Developer contractor to support a program with the State of Maryland in Linthicum, MD. The position is fully onsite and full-time, Monday-Friday with standard office hours (i.e. 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm). The Applications Development Expert provides design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy. The role shall use a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications to customers. This individual will be viewed both internally and externally as a technical expert and critical technical resource across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities include performing the following tasks :

• Developing enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
• Providing expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business
• Determining specifications, then plans, designs, and developing the most complex and business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes (either individually or in concert with a project team)
• Assisting in the most difficult support problems
• Developing programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuse
• Understanding and consistently applying the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies
• Researching and maintaining knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business
• Acting as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent
• Highly skilled and experienced Full stack technical lead with strong expertise in Angular and Node.js to lead the design, development and delivery of the web application
• This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring team members, and guiding architecture and design decisions
• Lead a team of full-stack developers to deliver scalable and high-quality web applications
• Architect and develop modern, responsive front-end interfaces using Angular (v111+)
• Design and implement robust backend services and APIs using Node.js, Express and related technologies
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, test automation and best practices
• Take ownership of system architecture, performance optimization, and scalability
• Guide the team on clean code principles, design patterns, and modular architecture
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and resolve production issues quickly
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend tools to improve development efficiency
