Position Overview

We are seeking a Shop Operations Manager to lead production operations and ensure seamless execution across fabrication, procurement, design coordination, and delivery. This role oversees the entire project lifecycle, with a focus on safety, quality, and profitability. The right candidate will be a proven leader who can streamline processes, optimize resources, and develop high-performing teams to meet both client and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the operations team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Oversee project delivery from planning through customer acceptance, ensuring compliance with budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

Manage supply chain, procurement, fabrication workflows, and design coordination to support timely and efficient project execution.

Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices across projects and programs.

Collaborate with leadership on project accounting, cost tracking, productivity reporting, and forecasting.

Review budgets, billings, purchase orders, and subcontractor agreements, ensuring financial accuracy and project profitability.

Maintain strong working relationships with customers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and resolve issues quickly.

Coordinate with CAD / VDC teams to ensure design integration supports fabrication and project needs.

Support resource and production planning, including shop scheduling and capacity management.

Lead initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.

Represent operations in strategic planning and negotiate on high-level issues with company leadership.

Ensure all projects adhere to safety protocols and meet regulatory requirements.

Perform other duties as needed to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

10+ years of experience in manufacturing or shop operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and oversee complex projects from start to finish.

Strong financial acumen with experience in project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Proficiency with ERP systems, project management software, and tools such as Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and CAD / VDC.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with a track record of building strong teams.
