We are seeking a full-time Employment Consultant to join our Disability Services team. Employment Consultants work directly with the people we serve and businesses in the community providing ongoing assessments. Working with a caseload of the people we serve, Employment Consultants evaluate the skills and talents of the person served, then develop and coordinate opportunities with businesses in the local community. Successful employment is when both the person served and the business's needs match. Employment Consultants collaborate with a community network to train effective communication techniques, accommodations, and how to develop natural supports in the workplace.
Successful Employment Consultants are self-motivated and enjoy and ever-changing environment. They communicate with their teams and other community partners appropriately. They evaluate the needs of the people we serve through timely assessment, communication, and observation, and modify their plans through consideration of the person served response. Employment Consultants are also comfortable with diversity, are compassionate, and exceptional listeners. Their attention to detail, self-confidence, and a good sense of humor are critical to success.
- Develop and implement personalized career planning for persons served based on the individual's skills, goals, and interests by conducting discovery and vocational assessments. This includes any Person Centered Plans as well as other support needs.
- Maintain communication with the people we serve and their circle of support regarding all facets of service
- Develop and maintain relationships with businesses and other organization in the community
- Provide professional assistance to persons served through job identification and analysis, interviews, job preparation, and the new hire orientation process including any training
- Provide professional assistance to persons served through supporting community engagement activities and volunteering opportunities
- Market to employers, job develop, and obtain and maintain community-based employment for the people we serve with minimum wage compensation or greater
- Facilitate job starts and provide training and consultations to employers and co-workers to enable them to become a natural support to the person served
- Identify opportunities for career growth with the employer and the person served. Facilitate further training or coaching to assist both parties.
- Job coach persons served by using task design, trainings, and support strategies
- Troubleshoot problems that arise at community job sites and help employer and person served to maintain a positive working relationship
- Document daily reports, billable time, and case notes detailing services, progress, incidents, goals, etc.
- Maintain person served confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA regulations
- Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings
- Carry out additional responsibilities as identified and assigned by your manager and / or the Director of Mission Services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
