Job Opportunity : Systems Security Analyst / Cyber Defense Analyst

STRATEGOS (est. 2008) is a Service–Disabled Veteran–Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that provides solutions such as non–personnel support services, consulting, training, and engineering to the US Government and its partners. We are seeking an engineering professional to support the Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, RI, focusing on their mission of Professional Military Education and supporting Navy strategic initiatives.

Position Details

  • Location : Newport, RI
  • Full Time : Yes
  • Status : Exempt
  • Clearance : Top Secret / SCI

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analysis, documentation, and development of system security integration, testing, operations, and maintenance.
  • Utilize cyber defense tools (e.g., IDS alerts, firewalls, network logs) to analyze and mitigate threats.
  • Implement defensive measures, identify, analyze, and report security events to protect information systems.
  • Coordinate threat mitigation strategies across the enterprise.

    • Required Job Experience

  • Experience with installing and maintaining security devices on various networks (EDU, SIPRNET, DMZ, ISP).
  • Ensuring compliance with DOD security and information assurance standards.
  • Providing security support services for classified and unclassified systems.
  • Configuring and operating security tools like ACAS, McAfee HBSS, Cortex, and others.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, SIEM, SOAR, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with security incident reporting, firewall and IDS management, penetration testing, and forensic analysis.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities, network protocols, and attack vectors.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related fields from an accredited institution, or equivalent certifications.
  • Preferred certifications include CEH, CompTIA Security+, CISCO CyberOps, GIAC certifications, and others listed.
