Your Role as a Speech Therapist

As a Speech Therapist in Home Health, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating patient care needs related to speech and language disorders. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Providing services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws, in accordance with the plan of care, and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluating patients' functional abilities using diagnostic and prognostic tests, assisting physicians in developing therapy plans.
  • Treating patients to enhance their communication skills, tailored to their individual conditions.
  • Observing, recording, and reporting patient responses to treatment and any changes in their condition to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Instructing patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members on areas of speech therapy they can engage in.
  • License Requirements

  • Must hold a current license in Speech Therapy in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation are essential.
