Description

Reporting to the Manager of Public Safety, this position is responsible for protecting life and property at Saint Agnes Medical Center, ensuring the safety of staff, patients, and visitors, preventing theft and vandalism, and identifying hazardous conditions. The role includes security duties and working with behavioral health patients.

The Canine (K9) Public Safety Officer duties involve providing a secure environment, reducing workplace violence, conducting patrols, crime prevention, de-escalation, safety practices, customer service, report writing, administering First Aid / CPR, and handling firearms and explosive detection. All activities follow SAMC policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of certified K9 handling experience; current certification with approved law enforcement or private organizations.
• Security, police, military, or law enforcement experience required; basic K9 experience may be substituted with approval.
• Current BSIS guard card registration (California).
• Valid California Driver License with a good driving record.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card.
• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under stress.
• Teamwork skills required.
• Knowledge of laws, investigation skills, and behavioral health experience preferred.

Pay Range : $21.72 - $29.32 per hour.
