Summary / Objective
Under the supervision of the Shelter Manager, the Job Developer builds and maintains positive long-term relationships with industry representatives, community agencies, community colleges, and other training providers for the purpose of helping shelter residents obtain and maintain employment.
Essential Functions
Conduct assessments with shelter residents to understand their strengths, needs, interests, aptitudes, and capabilities as it pertains to employmentAssist clients to create and revise resumes as well as complete employment applicationsMaintain ongoing communication with shelter residents during while assisting with obtaining employmentKnowledge of current labor market as well as experience using job search tools and resourcesCreate and facilitate interactive job readiness workshops for shelter residentsDevelop, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with local employersDevelop and manage a database of employers and / or industry representatives and maintain regular communication through appropriate channelsCoordinate services with shelter residents, community agencies and training providers to include hiring fairs, supportive services activities.Plan and facilitate employment / career fairs that give shelter residents opportunities to meet with prospective employersParticipate in community events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to secure leads and resourcesCreate and manage case notes and data in a timely manner in the HMISEducation, Experience and Knowledge
Minimum : Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience working with at-risk populations or community outreach. Other skills / qualifications include :Strong knowledge of workforce development programs, services, and techniquesUnderstanding of career and technical education, employment, and transitional issuesExperience creating talent pipelines or talent acquisitionHighly developed interpersonal communication skills, including taking initiative, negotiating, and building rapportAbility to work collaboratively in a small team, as well as independentlyStrong written communication skills, including the preparation of letters, emails, website content, data reports, etc. using clear, concise, and grammatically correct languageEffective interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate combative clientsExperience with providing client assessment servicesAbility to work with diverse populationsAble to maintain high levels of confidentiality, credibility, and professionalismProven experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, internet, internet email accounts, data entry, and computerized tutorialsValid state of Maryland Drivers' License and own transportation requiredEOE Statement
