Overview
The Physical Security Electronic Systems Designer is responsible for the planning, design, and documentation of electronic security systems including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, perimeter detection, and integrated security management platforms. This role supports consulting and engineering teams by translating client security requirements into detailed system designs, specifications, and drawings. The Designer works closely with project managers, engineers, and consultants to ensure that electronic security solutions are technically sound, compliant with codes and standards, and aligned with client needs.

Remote (Must be located on the West Coast).
Responsibilities
- System Design & Documentation : Develop detailed designs, schematics, riser diagrams, and system layouts for electronic security systems. Produce construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals for project deliverables. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. Maintain design consistency and quality across multiple projects.
- Technical Support : Evaluate and select appropriate security technologies, equipment, and vendors. Conduct site surveys to verify conditions and inform design decisions. Support integration of electronic security systems with IT, AV, and building management systems. Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design intent.
- Project Collaboration : Work closely with consultants, engineers, and project managers to align technical design with project goals. Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, architects, and external stakeholders. Provide technical input during project scoping, design phases, and construction administration.
- Quality Assurance & Innovation : Stay current with emerging technologies, manufacturers, and industry trends in physical security. Contribute to the development of design standards, templates, and best practices. Ensure accurate as-built documentation at project closeout.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in electronic security systems design (consulting, engineering, or integration background).Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD required; Revit / BIM preferred).Familiarity with security technologies (video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, perimeter systems, PSIM / VMS).Understanding of IT networks, cabling infrastructure, and system integration.Knowledge of industry standards (UL, NFPA, BICSI, ASIS).Detail-oriented with strong technical accuracy.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously.Education & Certifications
Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Security Technology, or related field. Equivalent experience considered.Certifications : PSP (ASIS Physical Security Professional), NICET Level II / III in Low Voltage Systems, or manufacturer certifications.Compensation
$100,000-$150,000 – depending on experience, education, and location
