SUMMARY : As part of the Development Department, the Manager of Communications and Events reports to the Chief of Development (COD). This position will be responsible for planning, managing event volunteer committees, and executing Empty Bowls, SVdP CARES’ major annual six figure fundraising event. Within a culture of generosity and philanthropy, the position manages, designs, and produces external and internal collateral for the organization, inclusive of events. The position regularly collects content from programs for the organization’s communications, inclusive of stories and images for digital and direct mail fundraising campaigns. This position manages seamless seasonal and fundraising campaign execution with contracted website, digital media, and social media services. The position coordinates media stories and interviews. The Manager of Communications and Events is responsible for ensuring that her / his work supports the organization’s strategic plan, fundraising goals and objectives.

Event Management
- Coordinates, implements, and provides post event assessments for annual major fundraising event
- Manages event budgets
- Provides support to, represents the agency at, and provides follow up reports / stewardship for third party fundraising events.
- Organizes special agency events, such as press conferences, open houses and dedications, and agency tours.
Communications
Produce and edit agency print publications and collateral, including, but not limited to the annual report, donor handouts, donor mailings content, SSVF collateral pieces, and program collateral piecesCreate and steward relationships with media outlets to benefit the goals and brand recognition of the organizationProactively communicate with the media to ensure SVdP CARES recognitionMaintain graphics for fleet vehicles, and signage for agencyManage the communication calendar and ensure that social media and web content is provided to contracted servicesMeet monthly with web, digital, and social media partners to ensure adherence to annual development planOversee web content to ensure it is up to date and alignment with the organization’s strategic planManage the collection and creation of content for electronic, digital, and print fundraising communications and campaignsProvide text for marketing deliverables to COD / grant writers to include in proposals and grants upon requestPrepare and distribute collateral and communications pieces for event invitations, promotions, advertising, programs, follow up communications, and planned givingCreate and acquire branded resources such as note cards, signage, etc. for donor relations and eventsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited University and / or Communications experience.GENERAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. WORK ENVIRONMENT : Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents / clients. On an as needed basis, employees may be called upon to work outside of the established work schedule or work odd hours. All information associated with the Agency is confidential.
