Rice Management Company Investment Analyst Position

The Rice Management Company (RMC) stewards the approximately $8 billion endowment on behalf of Rice University, ranking in the top 20 endowments of private research universities (by market value) in the US. The endowment is critical to the university's ability to achieve its goals, and the annual distribution funds nearly half of the university's annual operating budget. The RMC is responsible for all endowment matters of the university, including asset allocation, the selection and termination of investment managers, performance monitoring, and reporting to the Rice Management Company Board of Directors. The goal of the RMC is to provide a stable source of funding for current university operations and to preserve & grow the purchasing power of the endowment to benefit future generations of students. The endowment primarily utilizes outside investment managers and invests globally across all asset classes.
The investment analyst is actively involved in all aspects of investment & manager research for the Rice endowment. Reporting to the investment manager, associates routinely interact with senior and executive leadership. This generalist role involves broad exposure across asset classes, including public equities, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and real assets.
The investment analyst position is a full-time, pre-MBA role. Analysts must have strong work ethic, attention to detail, quantitative and analytic skills, the ability to work in teams, self-motivation, good written and communication skills experience with computers, attention to detail, and an interest in investing. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of related experience, as well as a self-driven work ethic, deep attention to detail, quantitative and analytical skills, outstanding communication abilities, and a strong interest in both investing & supporting the work of a university endowment.
This is a two-year term appointment with the possibility of an additional third-year extension, contingent on business need and individual performance.
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating that all duties be performed in person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, and the salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
