Start date : 10 / 28 / 2025 - 04 / 27 / 2026

Pay : $30-$35 per hour

Position Summary

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, procedure trays, and medical equipment throughout the facility. The technician ensures all instruments and supplies are processed according to established standards and infection control policies to support safe and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, transport, and decontaminate used instruments and equipment.
  • Inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instruments and trays for sterilization.
  • Operate sterilizers, washers, and other related equipment according to manufacturer's instructions and hospital protocols.
  • Monitor and document sterilization parameters to ensure effectiveness and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain inventory and restock sterile supplies as needed.
  • Identify and report malfunctioning instruments or equipment.
  • Follow all infection prevention and control guidelines to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure availability of sterile supplies and instruments.
  • Participate in ongoing education and maintain certification requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification : Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent preferred (required in some states).
  • Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience in sterile processing or central supply preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instrument identification, and infection control practices.
