American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position in Illinois, requiring ICU skills, neuro experience, and an active IL RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an 18-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care hospital settingPatient population includes strokes (with or without tPA), ventriculostomies, craniectomies, and acute neurological conditionsNurse : patient ratio is 1 : 2 in Neuro ICU, 1 : 3 when floated to intermediate, and 1 : 4 on general floorsTravelers are required to float first and may float to any unit including intermediate or general floorsWork schedule is three 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) per week, with every other weekend and rotating holidays requiredVentilators, arterial lines, central lines, and titratable drips are commonly usedNurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors; telemetry tech is staffed on each shiftEMR system used is EpicResponsibilities include managing acute neuro patients, performing stroke interventions, and providing ICU-level careYou will be supported by a charge nurse (who may be free or take an assignment) and a 24 / 7 house supervisorNurse aides or patient care techs are provided, working at a 9 : 1 ratioUnit-specific orientation includes 20 hours (1 eight-hour and 1 twelve-hour shift)Travelers float first within the facility as neededHoliday rotations occur every other holidayScrub color or dress code is not specifiedLocal candidates are accepted but will be offered a local rate if residing within 50 miles\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license is requiredMinimum of 1 year ICU experience with neuro focusCurrent ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications requiredNIH Stroke Scale certification requiredExperience with ventriculostomies, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, and acute stroke management requiredAbility to titrate all types of drips as per physician ordersMust be capable of working with ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipmentExperience with Epic EMR is required or preferred\n Benefits\n
