8 hr shifts M-F; 0630-1500 and / or 0900-1730; call opportunity available, but not required
🔍 Position Summary (Core Role)
A Surgical Technologist (or OR Technician) working under supervision in the Operating Room (OR) to support surgeons and nurses during procedures. They help maintain sterile fields, manage surgical tools, anticipate surgical team needs, and ensure patient safety and comfort.
📚 Education Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program OR military surgical training (Army, Navy, Air Force).🛠️ Skills & Abilities
Deep understanding of surgical instruments , aseptic techniques , and sterile field maintenance .Excellent dexterity , physical strength , and organization .Ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs , adapt under pressure, and work in high-stress situations.Strong teamwork and communication skills with sensitivity toward patients' needs.✅ Essential Job Functions
Preoperative PreparationSet up sterile fields, prepare surgical tools, and perform scrubbing, gowning, and gloving.
Assist with skin prep and patient draping.Intraoperative AssistancePass instruments to surgeons, manage surgical counts (sponges, sharps).
Monitor for breaches in sterile technique.Anticipate needs during surgery to minimize surgical / anesthesia stress.Postoperative DutiesClean / sterilize instruments, document properly, and assist with cleanup.
Operate sterilizers (Dart test, A-test, etc.), and return equipment to Sterile Processing.Safety & ComplianceFollow infection control protocols and report equipment issues.
Adhere to ethical / legal responsibilities and respect patient dignity and privacy.Continuous Learning & CollaborationStay current with new procedures and technology.
