Funeral Director
Our client, a premier funeral home specializing in Jewish funeral services with a longstanding reputation for excellence in the Cleveland area, is seeking an experienced Funeral Director to join their leadership team. This established location is known for its exceptional service to families during their most difficult times and its deep roots within the Jewish community.
As part of North America's largest funeral, cemetery, and cremation services provider, this role offers the stability and resources of a well-established organization combined with the meaningful work of serving families with compassion, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. The ideal candidate will bring both funeral directing expertise and operational leadership capabilities to maintain the high standards this location is known for.
This is a permanent, onsite position.
Key Responsibilities
Funeral Services & Family Care :
- Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in accordance with Jewish customs and traditions with professionalism and compassion
- Facilitate arrangement conferences with families, negotiate funeral contracts, and present available services, merchandise, and benefits including veterans' recognition
- Preside as Master of Ceremonies for visitations, funeral services, and graveside ceremonies
- Coordinate all aspects of services including removals, transfers, preparation, and logistics
- Handle pre-need arrangements and provide aftercare to families
- Ensure families receive exceptional, personalized service that exceeds expectations
Operational Management :
Manage day-to-day operations including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure seamless service deliveryEnsure compliance with all professional, municipal, state, and federal licensing regulationsComplete and accurately prepare all required documentation, contracts, legal documents, and reportsMonitor facility, grounds, vehicles, and equipment maintenance ensuring professional appearance and proper working orderManage inventory of caskets, funeral supplies, and merchandiseIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service qualityFinancial & Business Management :
Support business planning and achievement of financial goalsMonitor operational expenses, approve expenditures, and control costs effectivelySupport initiatives to encourage profitable case volume growthLeadership & Staff Coordination :
Guide and direct funeral home staff to ensure cohesive, high-quality service deliveryCommunicate expectations clearly and maintain service excellence standardsFoster a sense of ownership and pride among team membersProvide oversight, coaching, and support for staff developmentCommunity Engagement :
Build and maintain strong relationships within the Jewish community and local religious organizationsParticipate in community, civic, and religious organizations to strengthen the funeral home's presenceRepresent the funeral home with professionalism and cultural sensitivityCompliance & Safety :
Ensure adherence to all licensing regulations, company policies, and industry best practicesPromote and maintain a safe, healthy work environment
