Overview
Information Technology Services at the University of Iowa intends to hire either an Associate Network Engineer (PIN1) or a Network Engineer (PIN2) based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. This position will have a 2-year project assignment and is classified as a "specified term appointment" with full fringe benefits.
This is a 100% onsite position with interviews held in person in Iowa City. A valid US driver's license and the ability to meet the University of Iowa's fleet safety requirements are required. This role is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

For Both Levels
This position requires occasional off-hours work and will participate in a team after-hours on-call rotation.

Responsibilities
- Associate Network Engineer : Contribute to network operations, communicate project technology needs, and assist with the implementation and ongoing management of campus-wide communication technologies to ensure high service quality and integrity.
- Network Engineer : Contribute to network architecture, communicate project technology needs, and assist with the implementation and ongoing management of campus-wide communication technologies to ensure high service quality and integrity.
- Participate in partnerships with academic and administrative units.
- Work individually as well as in a team environment in a highly collaborative manner with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Provide communication technologies service delivery. For the Network Engineer, function at a strong technical level in all aspects of communication technologies service delivery, including design, technology review, and evaluation of existing services.
Qualifications
Associate Network Engineer
Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.Some experience (typically 3–6 months or more) working with network systems, including installation, maintenance, and / or ongoing support.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster working relationships within and outside the organization.Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.Strong technical troubleshooting aptitude.Valid US driver's license with the ability to meet the University of Iowa's Fleet Safety Requirements.Desirable Qualifications
Experience on complex projects and initiatives with cross-functional teams.Experience with enterprise-level network systems.Knowledge of Cisco products and services, Aruba wireless access points and controllers, Juniper networking hardware, and network monitoring and alerting systems.Demonstrated technical and architectural knowledge related to network systems.Network Engineer
