Job Description for a Maintenance Machinist at HII, Newport News Shipbuilding.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical tools, air tools, pump and hydraulic equipment.
• Repair and maintain critical plant services equipment and systems, including low and high pressure steam systems, river water systems, air compressors, demineralized water systems, calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Work as a team member or with minimal supervision; be able to climb ladders, work at heights, lift a minimum of 40 lbs, and work in confined spaces. Must be able to work any shift; this position requires working a day shift.
• Specific duties include maintenance and repair of plant equipment across various systems, including boilers, pumps, motors, burner management, and related auxiliary systems as applicable.
