What To Expect
Automation Engineers are responsible for implementing equipment control solutions for all cell manufacturing projects. This includes design, architecture, and implementation of automated equipment such as automated storage systems, robotics, automated case and pallet conveyance, automated guided vehicles, fixtures, etc.
Automation Engineers own equipment controls standards, hardware programming, robot programming, commissioning, and review processes of the project, as well as additional functions such as auditing, installation, and safety assessment.
What You'll Do
- Program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio).
- Create operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC / Proface / Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards using Ignition.
- Develop programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery for processes like material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing, and material transport.
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for optimal operation.
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development, balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time.
- Design and implement safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment according to standards.
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
- Coordinate with suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of equipment.
- Maintain documentation of electrical equipment and procedures, updating as needed.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or 5+ years' experience in Control Systems Design and PLC programming.Experience with Siemens or Omron automation preferred.Proficiency in HMI / GUI development (Proface, WinCC, Ignition).Skilled in creating electrical and fluid schematics in CAD (EPLAN preferred).Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) programming skills.Benefits
