Title :

  • Accounting Intern                                                                                      Grade : 09   FLSA Status : Non-Exempt  Department : Accounting                                                                                      Reports To : Accounting Manager  Purpose : Assist the Accounting Department by balancing reports, researching problems with reports, and preparing various statistical reports.    Duties and responsibilities : List is not all-inclusive and additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Balance daily ledger cash accounts for Guidewire Innovation System.  Research balance errors and post-adjusting entries for corrections.
  • Prepare weekly reports by verifying and posting details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed.  Distribute reports to various personnel.
  • Reconcile and analyze various accounts assigned by the Accounting Manager.  Breakdown, sort, distribute, and maintain monthly accounting reports Work with the Accounting Manager on creating a ‘Capstone’ project, to be presented to the Accounting Manager and Accounting Vice President by the end of the internship.
  • Assist in the preparation of the 1099 issuance Assist and perform various treasury functions, ensuring timely and accurate communication with our banking institution.

Assist in the preparation of various month-end reports produced by the accounting department   Competencies :

  • Currently in school and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Language Skills  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.   Mathematical Skills  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.    Reasoning Ability  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills  To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of personal computers and software.  Knowledge of Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of any Accounting software is helpful.   Other Skills and Abilities  -Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.  -Ability to analyze and report financial data.  -Knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment -10-Key and typing skills.  Work Environment :
