Communication Sciences and Disorders - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s or PhD degree in Communicative Disorders (e.g., MA, MS, AuD, PhD, EdD)
  • Candidates should have prior university-level teaching experience or at least 5 years of experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Candidates should demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
  • Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist or Audiologist with ASHA-CCC and State of California Licensure.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to those with significant teaching experience with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Preference given to SLPs who are bilingual for clinical supervision

    Appointment Date And Academic Calendar

    The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. Fall term : late August to mid-December. Spring term : mid-January to end of May. On rare occasions, part-time faculty may be needed during Summer Session segments.

    Performance Evaluation

    Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are conducted by the department under the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. Evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments, and syllabi, assignments, and reading material may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

    Appointment And Salary

    All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU system and California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester. Classification Range : $5,507 - $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range not to exceed $6,221 per month. Salaries are prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester. Benefits details are available at the CSU Fullerton total wellness site.

    The College of Communications prepares students to engage ethically and professionally across communications industries and related fields. The Department aims to provide students with an understanding of communication sciences and disorders within a diverse society and to prepare graduates to become professional practitioners in speech-language pathology across clinics, schools, community centers, hospitals, and private practices, while advocating for people with communication disorders.
